Around the globe in four days

I don't know why it has taken me so long to notice this story, but a man named Steve Fossett is in the process of attempting to circle the globe solo, in an airplane without stopping to refuel. Apparently he has had some problems and has considered landing in Hawaii, short of his destination of Salina, Kansas, but due to a favorable jet stream, may continue to fly and pursue his goal!

If he can make it all the way, he is expected to reach Kansas this afternoon.

Hmmm, I think we may divert our homeschool studies today and focus on this story! History is being made!
