Prayers

My heart is disquieted today thinking about Terry Schiavo because she will starve to death over the next few days or weeks, presumably with her parents by her side.

The fact is that Terry never signed a legal document to avoid being kept alive under such circumstances. She is being starved because her husband SAYS she stated that she wouldn't want it. Don't be fooled, this is a legal precedent with ominous overtones for the future.

Today, and in the upcoming days, my prayers will be for Terry and her parents. I cannot begin to imagine Terry's physical suffering or her parent's anguish. This is not only a family tragedy, it is a national tragedy as well.
