Adding a border to your quilt

Adding a border to your quilt will take another 1/2-yard of fabric. Because I did not want to buy any more fabric I used the excess from my quilt top. I used four different fabrics for my border but I thought it would look fine since my fabrics are bright and playful. You may want to use one color but that depends on the style of your quilt.

First, cut four 2-inch strips from your fabric:

Sew a strip on each of two opposite sides (for example: north and south). Iron your seams toward the border:

Next, add the two opposite edges (east and west). Iron the seams toward the border:
